| KIVA Shopping Club
was started in late June 2007. Quickly we had over 10 members
supporting the club. Our first loan was funded in July of
2007. Our club members make purchases by going shopping from
the IGive.com website. Individuals information remains
private between the store and the individual. IGive only
provides the signup email and name to the KSC –Igive account
holder (This is me, Henry) . When credits are posted to the IGive account we update the Member stats page of the website. Here you will see the balance of each members IGive contributions. Every time the total balance enables us to fund a loan (increments of $25.00) I deposit $25.00 into the clubs KIVA.org account and the next loan is selected. Also, when a loan matures (first one 12/4/07) the credit that is received from KIVA is reinvested into KIVA allowing us to continue to fund loans. You might notice on the IGive account page that payments are made to me directly, this is only a Reimbursement (which is 3 months delayed) for my personal money which I use to fund loans timely so the club members get to enjoy—enabling us to get our funds active quickly! At present, we try to rotate through the members with a balance to allow everyone to select a loan. There are no real rules at this time for selecting a loan, however we do ask you try to locate a 4 or 5 star MFI which is in a region we don’t already have an existing loan. This allowing us to have more “pins” on our map! We would love to have 100’s even thousands of members and hope you join up with us and learn to do your shopping through the IGive.com Mall.
